Prayers alone cannot help Nigeria, loyalty to the country is key
With the increasing rate at which various religious bodies pray for Nigeria to become a better country, things keep getting worse. Some students of KINGSTON COLLEGE, Ibadan, Oyo State, share their views on this.
Stella-Maris Okoye, 9 yrs old, S.S.S 3
Yes, prayers can. I do tell God to help Nigeria in many ways especially, in respect of economic, social, and physical problems going on in our society every day. I do ask God to give government officials hearts to help the less-privileged and the unemployed. God can answer anyone’s prayer when we pray from the depth of our hearts, with a concluding statement that God bless Nigeria.
Daniel Egunjobi, 13 yrs old, Year 9
Prayer can solve Nigeria’s problems. I tell God to help our leaders in their administration and help the country to overcome all challenges. We pray to God to see us through the hard times and by praying, we break all barriers affecting our country. However, it is not only prayers that can help Nigeria, our will to be loyal to the country is key. If we serve our country and pray to the Lord for support, Nigeria will become better socially and economically.
Emmanuel Adesiji, 16 yrs old, SSS 3
When I pray to God, I tell him about Nigeria’s social-economic problems and that He should touch the hearts of those in government to reduce the high cost of living through best possible means. In addition, I tell God to gui de Nigerians through the hardship being experienced now.
Oluwadarasimi Ajayi, 15 yrs old, Year 12
Yes, I think prayers can solve Nigeria’s social-economic problems because there is no one who can deliver us from the problems aside God. In the Bible, we are told to ask and there shall be answers; so why not pray and cry to the problem-solver? Apart from praying for solutions, we should work together. It is written the Bible that we shall face problems so, the best we can do is to pray to the one who told us earlier that we would face problems. I tell God to give our leaders wisdom to rule citizens in peace and unity.
Melvin Ukhun, 13 yrs old, Year 10
God can do anything, so prayer can solve Nigeria’s problems. I ask God to give Nigeria good leaders while he blesses the hearts of our current and future ones. As for Nigerians, I ask God to make us good citizen of Nigeria and stop corruption both internally and externally. God is almighty and I know he will answer all our prayers for Nigeria, our fatherland. As we all know, prayer is the key.
Wisdom Akinwale, 13 yrs old, Year 9
In my prayers, I plead with God not to leave his true children and continue to be with us irrespective of the trials we may face. In a way, Nigeria’s problems can be solved through prayers because there is nothing God cannot do. However, everything happening has been foretold that there will be problems. There is assurance that if not now, it will be later in God’s kingdom; God will solve humanity’s problems.
Francis Makinde, 14 yrs old, Year 11
Prayer is the key so it can solve Nigeria’s problems. Whenever I pray, I ask God to touch the hearts of our leaders in government, turning their hearts towards us. Through God, all things are possible so I believe that my prayers shall be answered on Nigeria.
Ireoluwa Alakin, 10 yrs old, Year 11
God is the creator of all things so he is in control of the Nigeria’s situation. Therefore, if we lift our voices, and cry to him in prayer, He will surely hear and change the situation for the better. In my prayer, I tell Him to restore our country to a better state.
Rhema Adedor, 14 yrs old, Jss 3
I think prayers can solve Nigeria’s problems because life is more spiritual than physical. However, the thing with Nigeria’s social economic problems is corruption. Most churches pray for the nation and that is why Nigeria is not worse than it currently is. I am a Nigerian and I feel other Nigerians should pray as I do.
Aderinsola Adepoju, 14 yrs old, Year 10
It is not that prayers cannot solve the nation’s country but some people are adamant when it comes to praying for their motherland. Prayer can solve Nigeria’s problems because God himself said “ask and it shall be given, seek, you shall find.” Prayers can bring miracles such that Nigeria would be better day by day. As long as we reach out to God and never give up crying out to God for help, our problems will be solved.
